Neo’s SafeKeys 3.1

Hello, I woul’d like to create a new keyboard but haven't understood the indications :

« Create a copy of the NSKconfig.ini file (with a new name), and then edit this file ».

But when editing this file, it only appears :

[Settings]

Transparency=252

You say : « Simply replace the characters you wish to change ». How to do that ??

Hi

I am a new user Neo Safe Key. I used this program last months. This happens because of frequent theft of password in Facebook.

The hackers use keylogger program, especially in the internet cafe where I often use. The aim is to steal chips poker in zynga texas holdem poker, the third biggest game in FB.

I am delighted, with Neo Safe Key; I am free access without fear hacker can break my FB password.

Only if there's a little advice, we recommend the Neo Safe Key applications can also be used in Yahoo Messenger (YM). I see drag and drop technique, can not be used in the YM. This is the point gap for hackers to break back in and steal the password.

Lastly, I think the Safe Key Neo-makers will be given a place in heaven.

Hi,

I have just noticed Safekeys v3.
I have downloaded v3, but still have v2 on my machine. Is there any good reason to keep v2?

I know that v2 is compatible with Linux via Wine.

What is the situation regarding Linux running Firefox and v3?

Best wishes

Hi Neo.

I'm trying to drag-drop the Safekeys password to Keepass' (v.1.17 without dotnet) "master password" edit box, but it doesn't work. No error message, just empty edit box after drop.

After searching, I noticed this issue was previously reported in the Keepass forum:

 http://sourceforge.net/projects/keepass/forums/forum/329220/topic/2114442

Any chance you can take a look to see if there is a solution for this interoperability?

I just wanted to pass by these forums and let Neo know that I just tested safe keys with a new fully undetectable keylogger and the results were 100% no leakage for my password fields in both FF and IE8

I was somewhat skeptical if my use of Neo's Safe Keys over the past month was really keeping me secure. My doubts no longer exist, this is a great product and an asset for any user trying to ensure that their account credentials are not stolen.

Hi Neo,

Thanks for a great little program.

My Credit Union has a neat login feature designed to stop key loggers (https://www.netteller.com.au). After each push of the on-screen keyboard, the keyboard relocates to somewhere else on the screen. Might make an already very robust application even better.

I'm not sure how this is supposed to work. When I enable scrambling for screen and keyboard, the password is scrambled after entering from the keyboard. When I drag the password to a pw input box, it is still scrambled. Doesn't SafeKeys unscramble the password?

I tried scramble .. enter pw via keyboard ... then unscramble before dragging and dropping the pw. I'm using 2.3.0 portable to test.

Hello there. First off, thank you for providing the community with your "safe" on-screen-keyboard, it certainly plugs a hole many people aren't even aware of.

Unfortunately, as seems to have been discovered with other programs as well (Opera?), some applications won't work as "recipients" of SafeKeys drag/drop operation, in this case i'm talking about TrueCrypt. This is very unfortunate, as passwords to encrypted filesystems are obviously quite "valuable" and there is really no other option in TrueCrypt than to enter your keyphrase using an inherently unsafe keyboard. Now, i know it's definitely not your fault that the people programming TrueCrypt wrote their software the way they did, but maybe there'd be other ways to send a password to a target application than just drag and drop? A software similar to your's, called "mouse only keyboard" seems to use a sort of locked clipboard that cannot be read by keyloggers monitoring your clipboard, maybe this could be an alternative?

The original neo safekey "changes width and height each time, as well as its placement on the screen (to fool mouse-loggers, buttons will always be in different positions each time you use the program)"

The 2008 has the "Scramble" option, but i notice it doesn't produce keys with random size like the original.

Any reason why that was removed? I know the new version has everything but the kitchen sink, so why not keep this one as well for sake of completeness?

First, thank you for writing this utility. It fills a vital security space for computer road warriors.
Out of curiosity, if I enter a password using your virtual keyboard, then copy to the clipboard using CTRL-C, then paste to my password entry box with CTRL-V, is that less secure than using a mouse drag-drop? In other words, can a malicious keylogger know what text I'm cutting and pasting via the clipboard?

just for your info, the use of NEO's Safe Key does NOT HIDE the password-input to keyloggers.
A test with PERSONAL INSPECTOR (Monitoring tool) shows, each button click is visible. And at the end, when you move the password in a field, the whole password is visible.

FYI: I am aware of a bug with the "Hide password in amongst random characters" mode for users who have a non-English keyboard layout.

I have reports that some random characters remain after the "Hide password in amongst random characters" mode is turned off.

This is being investigated.

I have heard from some users that Neo's SafeKeys cannot drag and drop to the Opera web browser.

I have done some investigation into Opera; both testing and extensive online research.

In short, the Windows version of Opera does not allow dragging and dropping between itself, and any other application. Opera will only allow dragging and dropping within itself.
This is not a Neo's SafeKeys problem, as any application would have a issue with this.

Probably the only hope would be to lobby Opera itself, to get them to allow dragging and dropping from other applications to Opera.

Here are two postings on the forums that explain the dragging and dropping limitations (in various ways):
http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=253332
http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=249292
(I'm sure there are more).

Hope this helps explain things.

Neo.
